NEW assessment in June. They only need to attend one tryout session. Please note, an original birth certificate is required for all first-time registrations once they make the Swim Team.

• Children ages 8 and younger must be able to swim 1 stroke the full length of the pool (25 meters) without stopping.
• Children ages 9-10 must be able to swim 2 strokes the full length of the pool (25 meters) without stopping.
• Children ages 11 and over should be able to swim 3 strokes the full lengths (50 meters) without stopping. Swim Team Members Registration Information: Want to learn more? Join us for an Informational Session via Zoom Meeting on March 21st @ 7pm with members of our Parent Board (Christine Amoresano and Joanne Parrotta) and Hanover Recreation Department staff to get your questions answered.
How to Join: Registration via Community Pass!
Although swimmers can’t officially join the team until after passing tryouts, we encourage interested families to register so you can receive team communications prior to the beginning of the season.
Season Costs: Registration costs vary based on the number of swimmers in the family.
1 Swimmer: $95 --- 2 Swimmers: $145 --- 3+ Swimmers: $170
“Swim Team” vs. “Swim Lessons” Please remember that a swim team is not the same as swim lessons. If the coaches do not feel your child is ready for the swim team for safety reasons, they will recommend that you enroll in swim lessons this season instead. We encourage everyone to attend one of our “rusty swimmers” practices to get some pool time in before tryouts. We will send out rusty swim dates after registration is closed.
In addition to the registration fee, all families will be required to pay a $100 volunteer fee via check at the beginning of the season, which will be refunded after the completion of your required 3 volunteer slots.
Swimmers must also provide their own suit and goggles. All swimmers are encouraged to wear a team suit, but any black or black and gold race suit is acceptable. Team suits are available through California Beach Hut in Denville.
In-Season Practices: Practices will generally run for an hour on weekdays followed by an optional swim skill lesson. Dates to be announced. Attendance is not mandatory at every practice but is encouraged to help build your swim skills!
Swim Meets: The official swim team meet schedule typically begins with our Black & Gold Intersquad meet (a “practice meet” for our team only) - the date and format for this is being determined. This season’s dual meet schedule and format are also still being discussed. A full schedule will be provided prior to the start of the season. The last possible event date for the season will be August 1st.
