In the case of minor home repairs and renovations, the Township will collect not more than four tied bundles not exceeding 4 feet in length, or, debris contained in not more than two plastic or metal 32-gallon garbage receptacle(s), not exceeding 50 pounds each. The Township only collects a small amount of rugs, one 10' x 12' room per household per year.
New & Major Residential Construction
The Township does not collect construction or demolition debris from new residential units under construction or residential units undergoing major construction. In addition, regular sanitation collection will not begin at a new residential unit until the Building Department has issued a Certificate of Occupancy, or a person(s) has moved into the home. There are no exceptions to these regulations.
Residents performing major home improvements and renovations must dispose of their construction or demolition debris by bringing it to an approved facility or, by renting a dumpster.
The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) is an approved facility for the disposal of construction and demolition debris. The facility will accept debris Mondays through Fridays between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturdays between 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. To obtain additional information concerning disposal guidelines and costs, please contact the MUA at 973-285-8390.
Asphalt roofing shingles, stumps, and oil-contaminated soil must be recycled at facilities licensed by the State of New Jersey to accept this material.
If you hire a contractor to renovate or repair your home or property, and construction debris is generated, your contractor may recycle this material for you.
