We at Hanover Township Recreation hope this message finds you safe and healthy during these unusual times.
We have researched many possibilities, but the impact of COVID-19 makes it prohibitive for Hanover Township Recreation to operate sports, camps, and programs in the traditional way. As a result, the following camps, programs, and events are canceled/postponed for Summer 2020.
Bee Meadow Pool Swim Team
The Bee Meadow Pool Swim Team is canceled for Summer 2020.
Summer Plus Camp 2020
Summer Plus Letter
Summer Sports Clinics
Summer Sports Clinics are canceled for Summer 2020.
Following Specialty Camps are canceled for Summer 2020:
Bake Up Some Fun
Stars and Dreamers Drama Camp
We are canceling the Travelling Teens Camp (for students entering grades 7 through 9 in September) which was scheduled to run from July 6, 2020, to July 31, 2020.
This difficult decision was made as a result of several factors:
CDC regulations currently state “no field trips.” In addition, all of the locations on the calendar for this summer are not yet open again for business. Many do not know when they will reopen and under what restrictions. Add to those factors the uncertainty about social distancing guidelines, and there are too many variables that prevent Hanover Township Recreation from offering the unique, quality experience of the Travelling Teens Camp.
We look forward to Summer 2021 and are hopeful that Hanover Township Recreation will be able to resume the Travelling Teens Camp Experience.
Wildcat Camps are canceled
Youth Public Safety Academy
We are postponing the 2020 Youth Public Safety Academy (for students entering grades 8 through 10) which was scheduled to run from Monday, July 6, 2020, to Friday, July 17, 2020.
The Public Safety Academy is staffed with professionals from all areas of public safety management: police, fire, EMS, and other emergency services. These services are under great pressure as the public safety and health officials in response to COVID-19 generated emergencies. As a result, the Public Safety Academy may not be able to provide the faculty which is required for the success of this award-winning program.
In addition, CDC regulations currently state, “no field trips” and trips to the Fire Academy and other facilities are an integral part of the Academy training. This component would not be available.
Finally, social distancing requirements would impede some of the “hands-on” training required for emergency services.
We look forward to offering the Youth Public Safety Academy in the future and will keep you updated on potential dates.
Patriotic Celebration with Fireworks
The Patriotic Celebration with Fireworks scheduled for Thursday, July 3, 2020 has been postponed to Hanover Township Day, Saturday, September 12, 2020.
Summer Concert Series
The Summer Concert Series has been postponed with new dates to be announced when/if group gathering restrictions are eased.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time.
